We take privacy seriously. This page explains what information RevivalRO collects, how we use it, and what options you have. We've tried to write this in plain language so it's actually readable.
1. Who We Are
RevivalRO is a free Ragnarok Online private server community that has been running since 2004, originally under the name RebirthRO. It was created by Syphon and continues under his leadership today. We run two game servers: Freya (Renewal EP21) and Loki (Pre-Renewal Classic), plus the GemstoneWoW community. Our main website is ragnarevival.com.
2. What We Collect
When you register an account or use our services, we may collect:
- Account information: your username, email address, and a hashed (not plain text) password.
- Game data: character names, progress, inventory, and in-game activity that the server needs to function.
- IP address: logged when you connect to the game or website, used for security and abuse prevention.
- Browser data: basic web server logs like browser type, page visited, and timestamp. These are kept briefly and used only for performance monitoring.
- Cookies: small files your browser stores to keep you logged in and remember your language preference. We do not use any advertising or tracking cookies.
We do not collect payment information directly. Any donations go through third-party processors (such as PayPal) under their own privacy policies.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Run and maintain the game servers and website.
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- Investigate and respond to rule violations, cheating, or abuse reports.
- Send you important account notices (e.g. password reset emails). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
- Improve performance and fix bugs based on aggregated, anonymous usage data.
4. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data only in these cases:
- Hosting providers: our infrastructure providers handle data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality.
- Legal requirements: if we're required by law or need to protect the safety of our community, we may have to share data with authorities.
- Public game data: character names and rankings can appear on public leaderboards, same as any other online game.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (such as abuse logs). Game character data may be retained in anonymized form for server history purposes.
6. Cookies
We only use cookies that are necessary for the site and game portal to work. That means session cookies to keep you logged in, and a small cookie to remember your language choice. These do not track you across other sites. They expire when you close the browser or after 30 days, depending on which one.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site (such as staying logged in) may not work properly without them.
7. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and firewall protection to keep data safe. That said, no system is completely secure, and we can't make any absolute guarantees. If you find a vulnerability, please let us know through Discord so we can look into it.
8. Children's Privacy
RevivalRO is intended for players aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete the account.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to correct inaccurate information.
- The right to request deletion of your account and personal data.
- The right to object to how we process your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Discord server or the support contact on the game portal.
10. Third-Party Links
Our website links to external services such as Discord, the game client download, and voting sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party services. Please review their policies separately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The date at the top will always show when it was last changed. If anything major changes, we'll post about it on Discord. Using RevivalRO after an update means you're okay with the new version.
