Freya vs Loki: which Ragnarok private server should you play?

RevivalRO runs two free Ragnarok Online private servers, and they play very differently. Freya is modern Renewal with 4th jobs. Loki is classic Pre-Renewal with no 3rd jobs. This guide shows how they compare, so you can pick the right one.

The differences in detail
Game version: Renewal or Pre-Renewal
Freya runs Renewal, the modern version of Ragnarok Online, up to Episode 21 Age of Heroes. Chapter 1 (Zero Cell) and Chapter 2 are live, with their dungeons, instances, equipment and storylines.
Loki runs Pre-Renewal, the classic version of the game. There are no Renewal mechanics, and custom content has been added to it since 2004.
Jobs and classes
Freya goes all the way up to the 4th jobs: Dragon Knight, Imperial Guard, Abyss Chaser, Cardinal, Windhawk, Meister, Inquisitor, Biolo, Troubadour, Trouvere, Soul Ascetic, Shinkiro and Star Emperor. Druid, Karnos and Alitea are playable too, and so is the Doram race with Spirit Handler.
Loki stops at the transcendent classes and has no 3rd jobs. You play classes such as Lord Knight, Assassin Cross, High Wizard, Sniper, Whitesmith and Creator, along with Star Gladiator, Soul Linker, Ninja and Gunslinger.
Rates and level caps
Freya uses 30x base, 30x job and 10x drop rates. The level cap is 275/70 and max ASPD is 193.
Loki uses 100x base, 100x job and 20x drop rates, so its base and job rates are more than three times Freya's and its drop rate is double. The level cap is 255/120, max stats are 255 and max ASPD is 196.
Endgame and custom content
Freya is built around official Renewal content: Episode 21 dungeons and instances, MVPs to hunt and rankings to climb. Daily events such as Disguise and Poring Catch rotate through the week, along with seasonal events.
Loki adds systems of its own: the Cedi MVP system with high-end boss fights for organized parties, Royal Dispatch (RDC) instances with exclusive equipment, MVP Arena where guilds race to clear bosses, player-driven Artistry crafting, and the Horus and Dali dungeons.
War of Emperium and PvP
Freya runs War of Emperium on a regular schedule with active guilds competing for castles, and Battlegrounds offer quick team matches.
Loki uses modified War of Emperium rules: the Emperium has 10,000,000 HP, and there are 20 castles across Prontera, Geffen, Payon and Al De Baran. Castle owners get daily treasure and guild dungeons.
PC and Android
Both servers run on Windows 10 and 11 through Syphon Vault, the free PC launcher. For PC, Freya is an 8.4 GB download and Loki a 5.3 GB download.
Both also run on Android 10 or newer through SyphonGo, the free Android app, which is in open beta. You use the same account and characters on PC and on your phone.

Is Freya or Loki better for new players?
Both are free, so the choice comes down to the game you want. Pick Freya if you want the newest content and 4th jobs. Pick Loki if you want classic Ragnarok Online as it played before Renewal.
Can I play both Freya and Loki?
Yes. They are separate servers, and each has its own account and game data. On PC, Syphon Vault installs both. On Android, SyphonGo is one app that asks which server you want to play.
